Every foreigner staying in Thailand for more than 90 consecutive days must notify Immigration of their current address. This requirement, under Section 37(5) of the Immigration Act B.E. 2522, applies to all long-stay visa holders: work permits, retirement, marriage, education, and Thailand Privilege.

The fine for late filing is up to 5,000 THB. In practice, one day late typically costs around 2,000 THB. The good news: repeat notifications can be filed online in under 5 minutes.

Quick Answer

  • Who must file: all foreigners staying more than 90 consecutive days
  • Filing window: 15 days before to 7 days after the 90-day deadline
  • Late fine: up to 5,000 THB
  • Counter reset: every exit from Thailand resets the 90-day clock
  • First time: must be done in person at Immigration. Online filing starts from the second report
  • Official portal: tm47.immigration.go.th

TM.30 vs TM.47: What Is the Difference?

TM.30 is a landlord notification — your property owner reports your stay within 24 hours of check-in. This is the landlord's obligation.

TM.47 is your personal address notification every 90 days. This is your obligation as a foreigner.

Your TM.47 address must match your TM.30. If you moved and TM.30 hasn't been updated yet, update TM.30 first, then file TM.47.

FAQ

Do I need a visa to file the 90-day report? The report is required for anyone with a valid long-stay visa. Tourists staying under 90 days are exempt.

Can I file early? Yes, up to 15 days before the 90-day deadline.

What happens if I forget? A fine of up to 5,000 THB. Deportation for late filing is unheard of, but repeated violations may complicate visa renewals.

Is the online portal reliable? Generally yes, though occasional outages occur. In that case, file in person at your nearest Immigration office.

Do I need to report after every trip abroad? No. Each exit resets the 90-day counter. The new count starts from your re-entry date.
